US tourism promotional video uses Niagara Falls, Canada.

Anyone who visits Niagara Falls will tell you that the Horseshoe Falls – all of it in Canadian territory – is the most spectacular visually of the Falls there.

The folks at Disney and the Depts. of State and Homeland Security also agree with this assessment, as they’ve decided their falls suck and have decided to use the Canadian one instead in a newly created tourism promotional video for the US:

Making matters worse, a visitor to the U.S. would not even be able to get the same view of the falls in the video because the scene was shot from a vantage point in Canada, according to Paul Gromosiak, a Niagara Falls, N.Y., historian and author. Also, he said the video leaves out the two cascades that actually are on U.S. territory, the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. “This is not the United States, this is 100 per cent Canada, shot from the Canadian side. This is an insult,” Gromosiak said after reviewing the video at the request of The Associated Press

Hmm.. so none of Disney, nor the Departments of State or Homeland Security, nor former Bush lackey Karen Hughes (who commissioned the video) knew that the Horseshoe Falls was all in Canadian territory. I have to say I’m more surprised Disney didn’t realize this then the dimwits in the Bush Administration.

Jesse, your grammar is atrocious. So is your knowledge of the view of the falls from the US side.

I have to say that as a canadian i am pretty insulted that the US guvernment would issue a video to be released to the public implying that the horse shoe part of the falls is theres.
I don’t know if Disney actually shot the video clip or if they just used stock video but one would think that if they did shot the video they would have realized that they were in Canada…..no?
I don’t think you would ever see a video promoting Canada with the Grand canyon,Yellowstone National park or the US side of the falls, they are not Canadian landmarks…..so we don’t use them, it’s as simple as that.

I think all Canadians should speak up and request that the footage be removed from there video,it’s only right….right?

I guess the only good thing about having the Canadian falls in the video is that once tourists decide to visit the falls and realize that the view they obviously want to see is in Canada, they will then come over to our side and spend money defeating the hole purpose of that part of the video.

  • It’s going to suck when these people get there and realize the best of literally everything is on the Canadian side. Best restaurants, hiking, views, tourist traps… well, I guess the last one we don’t have to be too proud of. They installed a horribly gimmicky trap at the butterfly conservatory recently which annexed something like an acre of beautiful picnic grounds.
