Screw Politics.

I’ve decided I no longer want to talk politics on here – no “progressive” talk or “liberal” or “Conservatives”.

Instead, I wanna talk about confectionery – which the British sometimes call “sweets” or “sweeties” or “spogs” or “spice” or “goodies”, and what we in North America call “candy”.

Also, what better way to turn over a new “sweet” – er “leaf”, then to change the look of the site. Look at all those goodies in the title bar.. mmm mmm… makes me gain 10 pounds just looking at it.

Just so we all know what “confectionery” means, a better definition comes from Wikipedia:

Confectionery items include sweets, lollipops, candy bars, chocolate, Cotton candy, and other sweet items of snack food. The term does not generally apply to cakes, biscuits, or puddings which require cutlery to consume, although exceptions such as petits fours or meringues exist. Speakers of American English do not refer to these items as “candy”.

Remember that when you discuss confectionery at my site. I will boot anyone off of my site who comes on here trying to tell me a cake or a pudding is confectionery. Donut talk is also not tolerated here. On the other hand, expressing your love for such things as fudge, toffee/taffy, or chocolates, to name a few, will earn you my undying love and respect, and perhaps I’ll send you a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

So, whats YOUR fave confectionary?

UPDATE: PS – In case this needs to be said, April Fools 😉 And uh, don’t panic too much over the Prog Blog site either today.

  • GAB, I know that red “licorice” is mainly not licorice (although there used to be one kind you could get that had flecks of real black licorice in it, and of course it tasted better). But if I spent five or seven hours on a plane gnawing on real black licorice, I would look ridiggulous by the time I got off — diseased, frenzied, even. I actually have been frenzied by the time I got off most planes, but that’s not the point.

  • Skladl, evil red licorice is strawberry flavoured plastic.
Real Black Licorice is the absolute best, i don’t care if it’s allsorts, or that yummy panda brand and even better ouzo liquid confectionary.

Not so keen on the double salted dutch licorice however.

  • Whooee! Good April foolin’, ScottFeller. If yer down in Delhi again, gimme a call and we’ll get together.

  • um … well, as those Folks-Who-Shall-No-Longer-Be-Named-And/Or-Ridiculed-And-Lampooned-And-Spoofed say: “Stay Sweet, Scott.”

Sweetie darling … I love what you’ve done with the place AND my favorite confection is ….
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! (Especially the 4 paks!)

  • Skdadl asked:

Hey! If were being whipped to talk only confectionery, how come there are pics of croissants and challah and such up top? Eh? Eh?

Nonsense, Skdadl, you’re seeing things.. those are truffles 🙂

  • Dude, I like the new design…but whisper whisper…your feed seems to be off. This did not come up on bloglines for me.
And hey, did you know that people who eat chocolate are sexier? haha

  • I like Chocolate covered easter eggs with letters of BLUE icing. I am also fond of the RED gooey interiors of the cherry covered chocolate. Oh, and those chocolate ORANGEs you smash to break into wedges. And those GREEN spearment leaves with sugar on top. Yep, I like those.

  • Sweet mother of pie. Scott’s gone all goodie goodies on us!
Guess it’s just the nature of the yeast. Wonder how much bread all these new graphics cost?
    Dough I get it…it’s only a yoke!

  • Mmm … wine gums. And I can’t survive a plane trip without some ropes of red licorice to gnaw on.

  • I love the new design! It’s, um… sweet.

  • and I’m not talkin’ politics…just sayin…:)

  • Maxime Bernier will be so excited with the change…he has a Jos Louis fetish, don’t ya know…:)

  • Those are nice graphics for a one day post. I keep trying to come up with a way to fool the world but the world keeps coming up with better ways to make anything I say unbelievable compared to real life. Darn that real life.

I have a soft spot for chocolate covered marzipan, or chocolate covered candied ginger.

This came from a conversation I had at the pub last Friday.

Is the Cadbury chocolate factory in the UK located in Birmingham?

  • You guess correctly. This is a confectionary site… not a muffin nutrition site. Go visit muffinsarefattenning.com (or uh, somewhere like that) to talk about that.

  • It’s just so blue in here Scott. I am guessing discussing how they get so much fat content into the Tim’s regular whole wheat carrot muffin isn’t allowed either?

  • Sweet Fool’s Day eh?

  • 😡

I warn you, any more talk that Tim’s have confections, and you’re OUTTA HERE!

  • Can we talk about Tim’s confections?
