Canadians do not yet trust the Liberals
after the last scandal w/ the keys to the
treasury. The liberals do not have the confidence in Dion to lead their party.
How is it that Canadians are supposed to
have confidence in him as the Prime Minister? This amounts to the grinch that stole the keys to the Canadian treasury just befor xmas. It's an irresponsible act by a greedy bunch of non-elected politicians and it deeply undermines the democratic nature of our country. Not since 1926 has gov't been
replaced in such a manner and never by
a coalition that includes seperatists.
This coalition has no mandate from the people & should not be allowed to govern.
Canadians must be confident that their vote matters and that the governments mandate comes from them. If this group is successful in removing a duly elected gov't from office the effects of such an act will continue to rock the democratic foundations of our country for years to come.

What a surprise. Harper has always been a hypocrit. I think this was a case where his inner mean instincts outmaneouvered his political judgment and regardless of the outcome he will pay for this. Even if the coalition doesn't come to fruition, he is mortally wounded and that is a good thing. I am anyways more concerned about good policies so I don't really care which party forms government at this point, as long as they are willing to cooperate and compromise and are pragmatic not ideologically driven. Much of my skepticism towards the coalition is I dislike the NDP just as much as the Conservatives since both are too extreme for me and having them anywhere near party is not something I really want. At least give them profiles like environment or foreign affairs where Canadians and myself lean to the left, but definitely not finance.

Heya Scott, bit of a long time no comment.

I'm pretty worried about the Tories' stalling tactics. If they can push back the whole crisis a week that's more than enough time for the opposition to manage to destroy themselves. The gov't needs to go down on Monday or, if the Tories can reschedule that a day as Libby Davies was saying, than on Tuesday. Next week? No way everyone will stay on message long enough. I hope everyone realizes this and acts accordingly.

I wonder how many "elected" senators Harper will ask the GG to appoint in the next three days.

I know that Steve knows all & he would never dream of taking advise from easterners/ontarians yet he might consider calling-up Joe Clark & asking him just how serious Liberals get 'bout defeating tory governments (especially when we have nothing to loose, no election looming & a GG that is not going to call another poll).
