That feeling of mine got reinforced with Obama’s executive order that he was closing Guantanamo Bay within 1 year, but it got further reinforced today watching new US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking to the State Department employees welcoming her arrival to the State Dept. on her first day on the job:

I wonder how wistfully our Foreign Affairs Department staff watched this.
When will the “Grown ups” bring in Monica Lewinsky and hand out Mark Rich pardons.
I think you’ll be waiting a while, Roll Tide. Perhaps you can bide your time reflecting on the image of Bush shredding the Constitution for the past 8 years.
Because if we’re going to play comparison games, that’s the hand your holding.
@Joseph –
The Patriot Act was passed by a Democratic Congress.
“The Patriot Act was passed by a Democratic Congress. ”
Ah, no. In 2001, when the Patriot Act was passed, the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency.
I guess when you have nothing else, you have to resort to lies and revisionist history.
Funny, I don’t consider the Patriot Act to be the only incursion to the constitution. I actually consider it one of the milder acts.
After all, we also have purely executive -level attempts to amend the constitution to carve out special second-class citizenship definitions, renditions to secret prisons, torture, muzzling scientists and altering scientific reports, seeking political retribution to civil servants who are “perceived” as enemies, skimming and distorting intelligence to drive the country to war, etc, etc, etc.
You are so limiting the mounds of discussion we could have.
80% of Senate Democrats voted for The Patriot act in 2001, an act that ammended FISA.
The Protect America Act was passed in 2007, the final, FISA Ammendments act, was passed in 2008, with the support of Barrack Obama, I may add.
All of these Acts were opposed by the ACLU as “shredding the Constitution”
All had substantial Democrat support.
Gee, Roll, for someone who quotes a lot of facts, you don’t seem to be able to read.
I’ll keep patiently awaiting your stunning defense of the issues I actually brought up instead of the narrow category you’ve decided to rest your arguments on.
I didn’t bring up the Patriot Act – you did.
I’m talking about all the other crap Bush pulled while in office, as listed in my last comment.
Its all related
No, it’s not.
Neither is your silly musing about Mark Ritchie and Monica Lewinski.
@Joseph –
You do not want to hear it because its true. The Clinton “Grown-ups”.

Barney Frank bails out a bank in his home state.The Treasury had said it would give money only to healthy banks, to jump-start lending. But OneUnited had seen most of its capital evaporate. Moreover, it was under attack from its regulators for allegations of poor lending practices and executive-pay abuses, including owning a Porsche for its executives’ use.
Lets see if the “grown-ups” in the White House are going to block this. Don’t hold your breath.
