I noticed this blogpost by Warren mentioning that Kathy Shaidle is supposed to be a guest on TVO tonight, and his mention of how he’s uncomfortable with her being on a public television broadcast.
Why the discomfort? Well, I’m going to republish his list of Shaidle’s venom on a few certain topics, and you tell me whether you think someone like this should be on TVO:
- · On Islam: “…your religion is fucking retarded…ungrateful beligerent foreign savages…These are people who love watching beheading videos on the internet…A sick, sick religion. Basically Scientology with bombs. Pathetic whiny losers.”
· On Muslim and Pakistani immigrants: “Muslims…most of them can’t even read…What we really need to do is stop immigration from Pakistan and other crazy Muslim countries filled with illiterate, violent tribal peasants…”
· On Muslim children: they are “parasites.”
· On a group of Muslim students who object to some statements by Mark Steyn: they are “motherfucking parasites.”
· On Muslims: “Muslims always have to be on top, in reverse proportion to their ability to do anything with competence or creativity.”
· On Indians: they are “parasites” who “extorted tax dollars [for] booze, smokes and junk food. Not to mention free everything else, including university educations they don’t bother getting.”
· On blacks: “…there is nothing ‘compelling’ about a black man impregnating a white woman. In more than one Toronto neighbourhood, that’s what they call Saturday night.”
· On the only people who can get excited about Barack Obama: “black, stupid or both.”
· On Jamaicans: “Just think of how much Jamaican immigrants contribute to our culture and economy: monotonous, illiterate music that all sounds the same, filthy hairstyles, those little tricoloured Rasta doohickies.”
· On the blacks of New Orleans: they are “pathetic losers” who cannot have their IQs raised “a single point.”
· On the poor: they are poor because they are “too lazy and stupid to a) finish high school and/or b) keep their pants on.…I don’t care about the poor. They’re no more real than Bigfoot.”
· On AIDS: “From the beginning, AIDS activism has been more about mainstreaming the gay “lifestyle” than saving lives.”
· On Sikhs: “Backward foreigners [who] shit on hand that feeds them…Unable to invent their own iconic product due to too much time spent worshipping monkeys and cows, setting women on fire and obsessing over imperceptible differences in each other’s skin colour…”
· On blind people: “Giving blind people real jobs…is not working out.”
· On Chinese: “[They are] spitting and shooting snot on the sidewalk…throwing broken crates of rotten bock choy all over Spadina Avenue [and] eating dubious, illegal foodstuffs” [and cause SARS.]
I’ve decided to send a letter to TVO objecting to her being on whatever program it is they’ve asked her to be on. The text of my letter follows:

Hi TVO:
It’s my understanding from Warren Kinsella’s website posting this AM that Kathy Shaidle, who runs a blog called “5 feet of fury” is going to be a guest on one of your programs tonight.
I’m wondering if you’re aware of what type of statements Ms. Shaidle has posted at her blogsite regarding certain topics, because i’m not sure we should be promoting someone like this on public TV.
For a list of what some of the rather hateful things Ms. Shaidle has said, please check out this list at the aforementioned Warren Kinsella’s website.
I would urge you to reconsider giving Ms. Shaidle a platform. Even if she doesn’t utter a single thing about any of the topics where she’s uttered some abhorrent statements, it gives her legitimacy that in my opinion, she shouldn’t have.
I will, fyi, be posting this letter as an open one at my website/blogsite

This woman has issues with hate. I never heard of her until now. I rarely watch TVO.
The problem is that Warren himself got caught making racist and sexist comments regarding the Chinese and Woman in this video.

I would let both of them talk, and shame both of them regarding racist comments.
If Kathy doesn’t apologize, I would not ask her to come back.

That’s rather the point. Shaidle has been on before, never been challenged on her views, is misrepresented as a “religious writer” and is given a veneer of respectability she does not deserve. My understanding is that even Michael Coren won’t have her back (and that’s saying something).
So this whole exercise is actually the last bit of what you recommend.

Some people are no more fit for TV than the Iraqi shoe throwing journalist. Shaidle is right up his alley. Worth blogging about once for the insane outburst, and then worth not talking about again.

Better yet, instead of bombarding TVO with question, allow Shaidle to appear, and bombard Shaidle with questions. Freedom of Expression, and a revelation of someone’s true nature. Win-win.
Freedom of speech is a two way street. All opinions should be heard and viewers allowed to make up their own minds. I find Warren even more of a weasel than Shaidle but I don’t think he should be banned from TV.
