.. if National Newswatch is right that a Canadian media giant will be filing for bankruptcy protection tomorrow, and J-rad is correct in his surmising that it will be Canwest Media doing the filing.

One less right-wing media outlet & 1 less right-wing rag (as in the National Post) in this country doesn’t bother me 1 bit (though of course, it will take some time to put the stake through the heart if they do get bankruptcy protection).

Perhaps the right wing blogging community can start a fund-raising drive to help them out, since they’ve all been getting granted guest posting privileges of late over there.

What a rant! Since you want us to forget so many other relevant things, why not forget the jobs too? 😉

You can only claim us gleeful at job loses by ignoring (or ‘forgetting’ as you put it) the things we actually say we will be glad to see gone.

Anyway, bankruptcy doesn’t mean everyone suddenly is out of work, it just means that assets are to be jumbled around. Some people will sadly lose their jobs and some media outlets will vanish, but much of it will survive in one form or another.

None of this should have happened, of course. Not to conservative media. After all, Conservatives claim to have known knew years ago that all this economic upset was on the way, right? Right?

The National Post has always been a collective ego project, on life support. In a way, it’s a testament to modern conservatism, cashing cheques it can’t afford, espousing fiscal values it fails to follow.

We are in a F**King recession and you leftys want to see more job losses?
Amazing that your political aspirations come above the well being of the economy and the families that will lose there incomes, have to raise taxes to pay for more social assistance( BUT THAT IS THE LIBERAL AGENDA>>RAISE TAXES)
Just because you dont like what they have to say? Oh yes..i know you will never be happy as long as there is a BALANCED VIEW POINT IN THE MEDIA…you want your view point ONLY.

I have voted Liberal before but watching the news and listening to many view points and watching Obama down south spend them into the red tank so deep they may never get out makes me think I MAY never jump to the left again.

You see. I look at what is right or wrong in my view. I do not hold true to the BRAND like some of you no matter what.
I have read this blog and posted on it many times and been critized for my view..my spelling and lack of knowledge and at times i find it very funny that i get ATTACKED for my view. I jump to different sites..right and left..and post on both. I have openly spoken out that I think Harper fucked up and have openly said that the libs have some good ideas.
Some of you are so die hard stuck that either the liberal or conservative brand is the ONLY way is not being true to yourself.

BUT TO SIT THERE GLEEFULLY and hope thousands of your fellow Canadian taxpayers who pay for all the wonderfull socialist programs you Liberals love so much makes me sick!!

Robert Prichard handed walking papers, gets a multi million dollar severance. He oversaw Torstar stock tank 80%.

Lets continue to be smug about Canwest.

  • Roll Tide

I would not be too smug Scott, and fellow Liberals.
Liberal taxpayer funded CBC (whopping 1 Billion)is not enough, they are crying for more taxpayer money.
The stock price of Torstar continues to fall (over 5% today alone).

Check out a 2 or 5 year chart, looks like GM.

  • I’ll be shedding a tear for the loss of GlobalTV because it will leave CTV as the ONLY private national broadcaster left standing.

    Think about that.

  • foottothefire

That 3 billion “slush fund”? Watch Harper use it to bail Asper.

  • MoS

I hope the op-ed staff of the National Toast get their severance pay in CanWest common stock

  • Mary Lynn

I’ll feel bad for Chris Selley, who got dumped from Macleans only to land on the sinking ship at The National Post. I always enjoyed reading Megapundit and his similar feature at the Post, Full Comment.

Probably won’t miss much else, tho.
