Miscellaneous political blog items..

First misc item: I saw this pop up from yet again another Liberal anonymous source – actually sources this time – about more election speculation and the Liberals supposedly bringing the Conservative down on a certain date in the autumn session. Not to be cynical or anything, but I’ll believe that when I actually see the entire Liberal caucus stand up and vote against the government on an issue. You can blame my cynicism on too many false starts on that front over the past couple of years.

Second misc. item: I still think Rick Barnes (and for that matter, other assorted NDP bloggers I managed to enrage) is out to lunch on this NDP name change fiasco and how it went down at the NDP Convention (saw an editorial piece in the Star today that claimed NDP party elders helped to run out the clock on getting to the motion to debate the name change, not just some innocent running out of time as Rick and others have claimed) , but if he’s giving me credit for giving him motivation to blog again, then you’re welcome Rick. A good blogger who writes good pieces on social and political issues (even if he’s out to lunch 😉 ) is a terrible thing to waste – or to not write. So welcome back to blogging.

UPDATE for a 3rd Misc item: I’m betting seal meat – cooked or raw or whatever – would never have even crossed the PM’s mind or any of his sycophants to be on the menu or for public display to the media if Governor-General Michaelle Jean hadn’t already set precedent with her raw seal meat demonstration a few months back.

Re the name change thingee. I would hesitate (to the point of, you know, not) using the Star as an authority about what went on at the convention.

What’s your motivation for wanting an election?
    Anything specific?

You’d be wrong. It’s pretty common at even minor ceremonies.
What difference does it make anyway?
Is the PM’s diet that important to you?
    First the wafer, now this…

    Get a life..

  • Thank you Scott!

My big question isn’t when Iggy will pull the plug, but just what he will do to avoid pulling the plug.
