Dear Cheryl Gallant

You forgot to explain to your constituents in your overly demagogic newsletter how you can justify killing  over 30+ of your government’s bills – many I might add, that your government slammed the opposition parties and Senate over for not passing as quickly as you thought they should; particularly the “law and order” bills your government deemed so crucial and important to get passed.  They weren’t crucial and important enough, apparently; shutting down Parliament to stall further Afghan detainee questions on the Parliamentary committee you happen to sit on was, however.

I know your riding isn’t exactly full of progressives, since you still manage to get elected there despite being a Michelle Bachmann/Sarah Palin clone, but perhaps some of those who are (and maybe even some of those capable of independent thinking who normally vote for you) will ask you about that.

That, and some of your fellow Conservative MP’s comments about wanting to attend the Olympics, and other assorted excuses they’ve been throwing out there trying to find a good excuse for doing this.

Don’t be too harsh on the residents of Gallant’s riding. That riding actually voted Liberal from 1979 – 2000.

  • On another Gallant note, I was surprised, driving home to my folks place in Muskoka over the holidays, a huge 6×10 Gallant sign in the middle of no-where on Hwy 132. Never heard of or seen an MP put up a sign to advertise themselves outside of an election…

They can indeed ignore us, but they do so at their own peril.

Great letter, Scott. We all need to make our opinions known to our MPs, of whatever party. If we make enough noise, they cannot all ignore us.
