This is a followup to my previous blogpost, which detailed Louisiana Republican Senator David Vitter saying he was supporting re-importing prescription drugs from Canada so he could use it to help cause the pricing system here to collapse.

At Talking Points Memo, we have an update to the story that puts his remarks in a lot better context; the Louisiana Democratic Party has released video and transcripts at this event where Vitter tells his constituents he wants to destroy Canada’s health care system.

I knew that Republican Senators from the US South were generally rather extreme in their right-wing views, but this is just above and beyond regular wingnuttiness. Wow:

A brief thought today on the debate in the US over what reforms their health care system should have:

While I think it’s great that CNN (and Rick Sanchez) are giving Canadian politicians like Ujjal Dosanjh face time on their network and a chance to refute Republican and conservative fear-mongering over the Canadian health care system that have popped up of late, no one seems to have mentioned or seems to realize that the health care reform and system that Obama is proposing – even with a “public option” included in it – is not even close to resembling the Canadian system
