Once again this year, I’m participating in the Coldest Night Of The Year Walk on February 25th. It is held across the country, and is done to help local charities, primarily to do with the homeless. In Brantford, the walk is raising money for the Brantford Welcome-In Resource Center (otherwise known as the HOmeless Shelter) and the Why Not Youth Centre, a place that helps troubled and homeless youth have a safe spot to go to, as well as helping them with life skills and so on.
If you’re interested in seeing if your local community has a walk you can participate in and to get donors to sponsor you […]
Briefly – a couple of updates.
THe Brantford Coldest Night of The Year Walk in Brantford went very well. Our team Red Warmth (Captained by Danielle Takacs, my good friend and past candidate for the Liberals in Brantford-Brant in 2015) was first in Brantford at the time of opening ceremonies for the walk. We raised over $5550. We were also #1 in Brantford for most donor recipients and Top 20 in most donors in Canada. So, the team did very well. Donations are still accepted until March 18, so if you still wish to donate, the link is here. Brantford fell a bit short of their overall $40,000 goal, so […]
I just wanted to mention that for the 2nd year in a row, I’m participating in a charity walk on Feb 20th called “Coldest Night Of The Year”. It is a 2k/5k/10k walk that is raising $ for 2 worthy organizations: The Why Not Youth Centre (which helps street kids and other kids have a safe haven – and also teaches them some life skills too) as well for the Brantford Welcome-In-Resource Centre – which is the fancy name for the Brantford Homeless Shelter, (though they do much more then that).
The team I am on (Red Warmth) is doing pretty well; we’re in 2nd place in Brantford and smashed […]
Last week, Liberal MP’s were out and about in Southern Ontario prior to the re-opening of the last session of Parliament before the next election, and in Brantford-Brant, 2 MP’s dropped by to visit with voters on issues and to support Danielle Takacs, Brantford-Brant Liberal candidate.
The first MP to visit was Adam Vaughan, MP for Trinity-Spadina, and the Liberal Urban Affairs and Housing Critic. He along with Danielle held 2 roundtables on the affordable housing issue – one with area stakeholders in Brantford-Brant, and a second one on affordable housing for students with Wilfrid Laurier Brantford campus student representatives. You can read more about that visit in the […]
I wanted to mention that one of the things my friend and candidate in Brantford-Brant Danielle Takacs believes in strongly is that Liberals should give something back to their local community, and one of the ways of doing this is by participating in charitable causes. As an example, Danielle helped organize a team of local Brantford-Brant Liberals to participate this past Dec 22 in delivering Christmas Baskets around Brantford to those less fortunate, to help them have a better Christmas.
There is another charitable event coming up in Brantford-Brant, and I was hoping you folks might help out a bit. We’re starting to form a team of local […]
