..this one is done by the Globe and Mail, and they find more evidence of Conservatives funneling money disproportionately to ridings they held over ones held by opposition parties – this time in reference to funding for recreational facilities:
A high-profile Harper government stimulus program created to build hockey rinks and other recreation projects has funnelled about 33 per cent per cent more money to Conservative seats than to opposition ridings in the battleground province of Ontario. An analysis by The Globe and Mail shows Tory ridings received an average of $2.1-million, compared to $1.5-million on average for opposition ridings.

The Harper government is plastering signs promoting its economic action plan on federal buildings that are receiving what Liberals say is routine maintenance. Liberal MP Wayne Easter says a huge “propaganda” sign has been posted outside an RCMP building in Charlottetown, where “internal door hardware” — otherwise known as door knobs — are being installed…

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty decided to hold a press conference today, which initially led to all sorts of speculation what it might be – perhaps a crafty move to try and pressure opposition parties not to vote the Conservative Government down?
If that was the goal, I’m not sure this speech is going to do it:
The Conservatives admitted today that the federal government deficit would be worse — a total of $101 billion this year and next — than expected and that the government cannot say when it will balance the books again…In the budget, Flaherty had predicted that the government would begin running budget surpluses again [...]

This idea is so blatant in it’s favoritism, I can’t believe Jim Prentice actually thought it would get a good reception anywhere other then in Alberta/Saskatchewan:

There’s a column in the Star today from Professor Errol Mendes, who teaches constitutional and international law at the University of Ottawa, on the background of the Omar Khadr case as it has wound through the Canadian courts. There is also an observation or 2 from Professor Mendes about Stephen Harper being offside with the court decisions, and he lists a reason about why he thinks Harper continues to oppose asking for repatriation, and why he potentially will appeal the latest 2-1 Federal Appeals Court ruling against him ordering him to ask for Omar Khadr’s repatriation to the Supreme Court of Canada:

Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s director of communications, Kory Teneycke, is planning to step down from his post, CTV News has learned, just as speculation ratchets up about a possible fall election. What does “astro-turfing” mean, you might ask? Here is the definition given for it at Wikipedia:

- If the story mentioned at this site in Nova Scotia and referenced to by Warren and a few others this morning is true, and the Halifax Chronicle Herald wins the right to publicize whatever is on this alleged tape, Lisa Raitt will not survive this. Keep an eye on the national broadcasters and/or the Chronicle Herald’s site today (as well as the Nova Scotia site).

You’ll note both Steve and Jeff commenting on Harris-Decima, and Steve commenting on Angus-Reid (Quebec only) doing some polling on the effect of the Conservative attack ads, with the initial reports being that they may be hurting Harper and the Conservatives worse then they are Ignatieff (and by extension, the Liberals).
I believe Steve said this somewhere at his site, but I’ll say it as well; this is encouraging (if you’re a Liberal, or if you just hate negative politics in general) but I would have liked to have seen these pollsters do a general poll (to go along with their attack ad polling) to show what current voter [...]
