A fitting punishment for Dimitri Soudas….

…for his erroneous information given to Harper about a quote Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff didn’t actually say – and which resulted in the Prime Minister being forced to publicly apologize to Ignatieff -might be to force him to write the official Government of Canada press release congratulating former Prime Minister Jean Chretien in receiving this honour:

Queen Elizabeth has appointed former prime minister Jean Chrétien to the Order of Merit, placing him in the exclusive ranks of such figures as Albert Schweitzer, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela…The award, founded in 1902 by King Edward VII, is given to “individuals of exceptional distinction in the arts, learning, sciences and other areas […]

Chretien still has it.

Best line of the night from the Brampton rally, where he introduced Dion:

He told Canadians in the midst of a market meltdown that it is time for Canadians to invest their remaining savings in the market…Since he said that the market has plunged another 1,000 points. That’s right. He said it was a good time to buy. On Tuesday Canadians will say bye, bye Steve’.

I want audio of that 😉

Aha.. I get audio of that Chretien speech – and video too!

Chretien to introduce Dion at Brampton rally Friday night.

Well, this is exciting news: the word is that despite his wife Aline having heart surgery last weekend, Jean Chretien will still be coming to the last real big Liberal rally in Brampton Friday night (starting at around 7:30 pm) to introduce Stephane Dion to the crowd. That tells you that Aline is doing fine and that Mr Chretien really wants to do this event with Stephane. That’s a big deal when he’s willing to do that.

So in the span of a couple of days, we’ve had Martin intro Dion and now Chretien – not many Liberal leaders could manage that.
